Reginald Arthur Swartz had a long and distinguished military career. He signed up for service voluntarily at the height of war. He was assigned to the 405 (City of Vancouver) Squadron after completing training. His first mission was flown on 27 October 1942, and was followed by 51 other missions with the R.C.A.F. alone, and an estimated 60+ additional flights with the 8th Army Air Force. Such missions on American planes was voluntary,
and little, if any, record exists to confirm all these additional missions.
